Directions:
From the Detroit Area
Take I-75 north to Grayling, MI exit #254. Follow business route I-75 through Grayling to M-72. Turn left on M-72 and head west to Kalkaska, MI (approximately 25 miles). Turn right onto US-131 and head north through Kalkaska (approximately 2 miles). Turn left onto M-72 and head west to Acme, MI (approximately 17 miles). Turn left at the light (south) onto US-31 and go approximately 3.5 miles to Pinestead Reef. We are located on the beachside of US-31 across from the State Park campground.
From the Grand Rapids/Chicago Area
Take US-131 north from Grand Rapids approximately 110 miles and turn left onto M-113 (The M-113 exit is approximately 18 miles north of Cadillac, MI). Take M-113 north/west for approximately 10 miles to Kingsley, MI. At the stop light in Kingsley, MI turn right (north) onto Garfield Road (C-611) and go approximately 7 miles to 3 Mile Road. Turn right onto 3 Mile Road and go north approximately 6 miles until 3 Mile Road ends at the foot of Grand Traverse Bay. Turn right (east) onto US-31 (Munson Ave.) at the stop light and go approximately 1/4 mile. Pinestead Reef will be on the left (beachside) side of the road, across from the State Park campground.
